I have when my kids get sick. Especially with something I know nothing about. A couple months ago Sophia came down with Mono???!!? I was surprised because I always heard it was the "kissing" virus. The doctor said they are seeing this in younger kids now because of all the touching of noses and mouths and then hugging or handeling each others food. This virus came on strong. We were at Fiesta Texas all day, came home showered and relaxed in bed. At about 8:00pm Sophia started saying she was freezing. I let her watch TV in our bed and put the blankets over her. She kept complaining she was so cold so I put a jacket on her. I thought she was just exhausted from the sun. She went to sleep early and woke up with a fever. I had to work so I have her some meds and left for work. When I got home she was crying and complaining her belly hurt. After an hour of crying we took her to the ER thinking it might be her appendix. After several tests it came back that she had Mono. I was so confused and immediatly googled this virus. Turns out...nothing can be done but wait it out. As a parent you want to take the pain away and have a quick fix. All I could do was rotate Tylenol and Motrin and let her wait it out. After 2 days of 102 fever she was finally better. She was instructed to rest (hard for a 3 year old) and drink lots of liquid. Today she is back to her old silly self. The doctor said the younger the child the easier it is to get over the virus. Olivia might have gotten it because she did have fever 1 day but was fine the next day. Phew...glad that is over with.
